fostering life skills vital to the success of our youth through music
The Bethany Lutheran Schola Cantorum (Latin for "Singing School") is a tuition-free choir school for boys and girls ages grades K-12. Affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music in America (RSCMA), Schola Cantorum is a structured program teaching music literacy, good vocal habits, knowledge of repertoire, life skills, and liturgical formation through regular rehearsals, performances, and fellowship. Students are challenged to grow into their full capacity as musicians and develop vital life skills as members of the community in a fun, uplifting, and Christ-centered environment. Schola Cantorum is the Ultimate Team Sport!
CHOIR OF YOUNG MEN & WOMEN
For young men and women grades 9-12 (or earlier for mature or changed voices), this choir continues to build on the skills learned in The Choristers (please note that students are still able to join even if they were not previously in The Choristers). They adhere to a high standard of discipline, learn challenging repertoire, and work toward rank promotions (much like you would in one of the martial arts or scouting). Additionally, they receive a modest Choral Scholarship according to their rank to reward them for their work.
Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 4:30-6:30PM (August-May) at Bethany Lutheran Church & School
Performances: Twice per month at either the 8:30 or 11:00 Divine Services at Bethany Lutheran Church. Occasional weeknight performances throughout the year.
Tuition: Free (nominal fees not included, see handbook)
Before registering for The Choristers or Young Men's & Women's Choir, it is important that you understand the required comittments. Please review the Performance Schedule, Handbook, and the Chorister & Parent Covenant above before proceeding.
