Naperville youth symphony orchestra
The Naperville Youth Symphony Orchestra (NYSO) believes in the intrinsic and progressive power of the art of music to inspire not only musicians but the people and communities that surround them. Music circumvents all boundaries and serves as a catalyst to bridge our differences. It is our mission to serve young musicians by providing innovative classical training and exposure to varying musical genres culminating in high level performances to thrill both performer and audience. We are committed to instilling standards of excellence while providing an atmosphere of racial, cultural, and socio-economic inclusiveness. Music is an experience for the young and mature musician in correlation with the audience alike; we strive to commit this art not only for the present generation experience but for the future generation as well. This is why we do it. This is what we believe.
Now entering its third season, the Naperville Youth Symphony Orchestra (NYSO), has rapidly become one of the premiere youth symphonies in the Chicago area! The NYSO program, with an ever growing membership of over 150 young musicians, is comprised of two orchestras, Encore and Philharmonia. Both orchestras are auditioned based on musical merit and experience.
NYSO provides innovative classical orchestral training for 5th-12th grade musicians from intermediate to advanced levels of proficiency seeking to enhance and grow their musical experience. Students are challenged to become the best that they can be through exciting repertoire, an encouraging community, and personal attention.
The Encore Orchestra serves advanced orchestral musicians. As a full symphonic orchestra (90+ strong) Encore performs professional level classic orchestral literature to sold out performances at the beautiful Wentz Concert Hall in downtown Naperville.
The Philharmonia Orchestra, a full symphonic orchestra of approximately 60+ musicians, performs orchestral repertoire in its original form. Advanced and high-quality arrangements of timeless classics are utilized as well to provide a professional musical experience for musicians and audience alike.
The Philharmonia Orchestra and Encore Orchestra combine to form the Symphony Orchestra which performs one piece on each concert, creating a force of more than 150 musicians! The Symphony Orchestra will make its 2018 debut with In the Hall of the Mountain King by Grieg on the DuPage Symphony Orchestra (DSO) Halloween Concert, held on October 28, 2018 at Wentz Concert Hall.
